SoulWeaver (noun): A seeker, dreamer, and magic-maker who weaves the threads of life into something beautiful, tuning into what feels aligned and releasing what no longer serves. Guided by intuitive knowing, you turn inward to create a life that is unconventional, authentic, and wildly fulfilling.
Dear Soul Weavers,
A few months ago, I launched this Substack with the intention of creating a space that’s both fun and deeply supportive of your Soul Weaving journey. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how much books have always been the key to fun for me, and I want to bring that magic into this space.
As a child, I was an avid reader, and like many of us who grew up in challenging homes, books basically raised me. I found solace in reading and going to the library, and I learned so much from the worlds books opened up to me. I’ve come to realize that when I’m not reading, my life feels off balance, and it always gets back into alignment when I’m immersed in a good book.
But it’s not just about reading for me—I also absolutely love participating in bookish communities. I want to talk about books, listen to others talk about them, and jump into any conversation I overhear about books. If you’re a book lover, you get it… it’s all about BOOKS!
Back in 2017, I took the leap and started my own bookish community—a Facebook group focused on Women Who Run With the Wolves by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés. We spent three years reading and discussing a chapter a month. Then, in 2020, my friend Caitlin Bosshart and I launched the Full Heart Free Voice Podcast, where we took that same project and explored the book chapter by chapter on the show. These projects wrapped up in 2022, and since then I’ve really missed the deep, soul-nourishing conversations about healing and empowerment through literature.
Fast forward to a few months ago when I launched Sleuth Hero Alien, a separate Substack where I share my favorite cozy mysteries, cozy fantasies, and charming sci-fi. It’s been such a blast getting back into sharing my thoughts on books! And now, I’m feeling the pull to bring that same energy into Soul Weavers Haven. Of course I am! After all, the magic of books has always been my answer for nurturing the soul and having fun.
So here’s the exciting news: Moving forward, Soul Weavers Haven will become Soul Weavers Reading Society! 🎉✨
This won’t be a traditional book club, where we all read the same book each month. Instead, it will be a cozy online community where I’ll share book recommendations, deep dives into particular titles, and fun reading projects—all focused on magical, healing, and empowering books (both fiction and non-fiction). These books will help support you in your journey to create an unconventional, magical, and deeply fulfilling life. And, we will definitely be having fun with oracle card decks, too!
For our paid subscribers, nothing changes with your benefits! You’ll still get the monthly Soul Weaver Tool Classes, new and full moon oracle cards, and all the resources I create to help you weave your magical life.
Everyone who is subscribed will get my newsletters, but only paid subscribers will be able to join the conversation in the comments of each post.
I know it might feel a little awkward to put a paywall on the comments, but this will help keep out the trolls and nurture a community of people who are deeply committed to learning about how to create their own magical lives, and who want to talk about books, reading, and magic.
Now, if all of this is a “no” for you, that’s totally okay! No hurt feelings here. Feel free to unsubscribe if it’s not your thing. But if it’s a “yes,” I’m so excited to dive into this new chapter with you. You can expect a weekly bookish newsletter from me, starting next week!
Thank you so much for sticking with me through all of the ideas and changes I’ve had over the years. Some of you have been with me since the very beginning, and I’m incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. I can’t wait to continue this journey together!
With love,
Emma
